About D

Welcome to my blog! Thanks for stopping by.

My name is Dipanjan. But Dipanjan's Travelogue - well, it doesn't sound so good. And isn't it pretty long too?

So, let only the first letter of the name prevail.

That's why it's D's Travelogue.

My Story

You can call me Dipanjan, Dipan, or D - I don't mind.

Based out of Kolkata, the cultural capital of India, I'm into a regular 10 to 7 job as a Technical Writer with a reputed company. Yes, you read that right - it's not 8 to 5, neither it's 9 to 6. The hours are odd and they don't leave anything for me. Add to that a three-hour journey to and fro every day.

You do get it, don't you?

Yes, the holidays are pretty hard to come by. So, all I do is save the leaves for the whole year. Once I've accumulated a few, I love to fly away with my wife. We visit common tourist places - and also destinations, which are almost unheard of.

While my wife is a beach person, I don't actually mind where I am traveling - that is, as long as I am enjoying the fresh air and the silence. So, we've covered a lot of destinations during our planned and unplanned trips. Mostly in India. These include forests, beaches, mountains, hills, islands, and so on.

Travel

In this blog, all I want is to give you a glimpse of the enjoyment we had during the trips, so that you are bitten by the travel bug. And as you know, there's nothing you can do once the travel bug bites. You'll have to pack your bags and be on the road. Destinations will beckon you.

Oh Yes! There's another reason why I started this blog.

There's absolutely no thrill in our day to day lives. It involves traveling to the office and back. Working there on the same stuff, meeting the same people, and taking the same route.

Can there be anything more depressing than it?

Probably not.

But you have to do that to live, right?

For me, till now yes.

So, I need a ready refreshment to keep my mind and body going. And that's my memory. And that's this blog. I fall back to this whenever I feel tired. The next moment I'm back either treading the lonely tracks of a small village, or sitting on the veranda of a treehouse inside a forest, or relaxing on a beach – when actually I'm sitting in my home, lost in the beautiful thoughts of such places.
